HEY Mark your calendars for the annual Chili Cook-off on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 6-9:30. The Middle School and High School Bands will be hosting our 5th Annual Chili Cook-off in the High School Cafeteria. This is a fun night for everyone to eat, dance (free lessons!), listen to great music and bid on items in our silent auction! We want all of you to come, but we also what you to enter your Chili!!! Prizes are awarded in each category. Entry fee is $20. Deadline for Entry is March 6! Spread the word and think about how great it would be to be the next Caledonia Bands Chili Champion!

HEYAnnouncing the 2015 Band Camp Dates: Every Summer the Marching Band attends camp at Lincoln Lake to learn our show and music. Please put the following dates on your Calendar so you can plan your vacation time appropriately as camp Lincoln Lake is mandatory for your participation in Marching Band.

Pre-Camp at CHS: July 13-16 (times TBA)

Band Camp at Lincoln Lake: July 19-24

The schedule for August will be released shortly, but please put these dates in your Calendar today. Cost is $300. Fundraising for everyone will be happening throughout the spring, and scholarship/payment plans are available so that cost does not stand in the way of anyone participating. Please check your email regularly for updates and information.

HEYThe Band Boosters are introducing various fundraisers prior to summer High School Marching Band Camp to provide opportunities to help pay for camp. Also Middle School Band students can participate to raise money for music book purchases, wind instrument reeds, private music lessons, Blue Lake and Interlochen summer music camps, etc. You may participate in as many fundraisers as you like.

Currently we are excited to launch this NO-WORK NO-VOLUNTEER Jamberry nail wrap fundraiser where 20% can directly benefit your student. Nan Snow, a previous band parent and booster member is running this fundraiser:

STEP #1: Watch this short video to learn how.

STEP #2: Go to this Caledonia-Jamberry Fundraiser Facebook link and click green "Join Group" button and you'll be added.

STEP #3: Click "Join Group" button to Nan Snow’s hostess Boot Camp group and she will add you.

Check out short and sweet SIX STEPS to having the MOST SUCCESSFUL Jamberry Facebook fundraisers/parties. You can read through all of it in just minutes. It's a great investment of time considering how it can increase party participation … sales … and ultimately amount that's donated directly to your student's personal band account.

STEP #4: Add all of your Facebook friends and family starting February 23-28th. You can still add people after that, but Nan Snow will be starting party posts on March 1st, so it’s recommended to have them in prior to then. You can invite everyone that you think might be interested in Jamberry nail wraps and/or supporting YOUR band student. Then send them a message or email saying something maybe like this, but in your own words …

"Hey there! I just invited you to an online Facebook fundraiser party called Caledonia Jamberry Band Fundraiser. Jamberry has these awesome nail wraps and in this party we'll learn all about them! NO PRESSURE! There will be games, prizes, and you can get samples. AND another super cool thing is that 20% of sales will be donated back to Caledonia Band students! Here's the direct link to the party. You can also find the party listed with your other groups on the left-side navigation area on your Facebook newsfeed. I look forward to having you there!"

bangWe're pleased to share some exciting news about a fundraising program for our organization. It's called "Scrip", and it's the fundraising program that works while you shop. Scrip is simply a word that means "substitute money" - in other words, Scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers. They're the same gift certificates that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers participate in our Scrip program including Meijer, D & W, JCPenney, Wendy's, Shell, Pizza Hut, Target, Speedway, Home Depot and many, many others.

You're probably asking yourself how these stores help raise money. It's simple -- Scrip participating retailers agree to sell gilft certificates to our organization at a discount. Member families like ours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our school keeps the difference as revenue. And Scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

Your student receives funds directly deposited into their Band Boosters account.

Caledonia Band Boosters has chosen to place 90% of the posted revenue into your student's individual band account. The remaining 10% will go to the Band Boosters for shipping, handling and the purchase of supplies. (The funds in your student's band account may be used for marching band camp, uniform and instrument fees, and the like. Any funds remaining in your student's account will be donated to the Caledonia Band Booster's when you student leaves the band program).

The beauty of Scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend your regular shopping dollars with Scrip at the stores that participate in the Scrip program! And Scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out. The Caledonia Band Boosters Scrip program promises to be a simple and effective fundraising program.
